Yo-ho Yo-ho, it's the pirates life for me. The Brethren will adhere to the code of casual Mechwarrior pirating. Although we take our game seriously and aim to win as much loot as we can, we do not hold that with as much value as we do each other. Whether you are the greatest player or the worst player we will all be treated equally. We covet our casual play and having fun above all else. This being said, the ability to blow up imaginary robots in a fictional universe more efficiently than the next person DOES NOT make someone better than anyone else. Abusive behavior towards other players will not stand. If anyone experiences or witnesses this type of behavior, bring it to the High Captain IMMEDIATELY. It will be dealt with decisively.
This Article USED to read: "No Brethren will be judged or punished for real life that may keep us apart. You come and go as you please, we are not counting how many times you are with us each week. Once you join our ranks you are with us as long as you like, and we value the time we have dropping together. In other words, it is understandable that real life comes first."
Unfortunately, times have changed, and the powers that be have decided that recruitment costs to the tune of millions of c-bills need to be a thing. The chapter cannot support members who only stayed for a month, joined and played for one day, or haven't been seen in over 2 years.
So, here how it is going to be; if you have something going down in real life (military deployment, joining the Peace Corps, wonky work hours, personal life went haywire, or even you're just burnt out and want to do something else for a while) just shoot your Raid Captain or one of the High Command staff a line or drop a forum post to let us know you'll be gone for a while and you will be put in The Reserves for as long as you need. (Though the High Captain reserves the right to review each case after 24 months of inactivity). Those that disappear with no word for 3 months will be moved to The Reserves. Members who then go on to not check for a further 90 days will be kicked from the unit. Come on, it is 2017 or later, you either have an internet capable device in your pocket, know someone that does, or can go to the public library once in half a year to check in.
We chose to be pirates of the periphery in the Mechwarrior universe, and as such, we are here for the purpose of fun and looting together. If you are very competitive and you get very upset and angry with your lance because they are not as good as you, then you might take a walk on the plank. Refer back to Article I. Abusive behavior will not stand.
In honor of article iii, no over-seriousness allowed unless it has to do with booty, grog or Kool-aid. There infinite other places to get into arguments about politics, religion or personal philosophies. Go to those places and do that, keep it off The Brethren teamspeak and website. We are here to play games and have fun, not debate world events.
All The Brethren Pirates will have their Mechs polished and in spit spot shape. We never know when we might feel like having a raid or two. Well, not necessarily ALL of your Mechs, some of you freaks have hundreds, but it would be advisable to maintain some decent drop decks for CW.
We as Brethren, although we are a nasty lot, will have respect for each other in TS and in the Forums. We do not have a lot of rules, but we do ask you to be sensitive to who you are dropping with, as we do have young Mech pilots and female pilots and possibly pirates that are of a more polite nature or play with speakers and may have young children who might overhear. There are those Brethren who don't mind "colorful" language, but there are others that do. Don't get bent out of shape if someone asks you to lay off th "F" word or something. Just be cool and say "fuzznuggets" or suchlike. Also, refer again to Article I.
Out on the battle field, we ask that we represent ourselves with good sportsmanlike conduct. This includes not using specifically-offensive terms towards either shipmates or our enemies, spoken or typed, including but not limited to these categories: Racist, homophobic, sexist, or related to intellectual/emotional development. Again, this goes back to Article I. Pursuant to this, any Brethren who manages to get themselves banned or sanctioned by any of the games we play together, will also be subject to possible expulsion from the clan, subject to High Captain's discretion.
